Externally, the 5 chrome strips of the Daffodil 32 made way for a 33 logo with 1 chrome strip with a chrome strip on the thickened part underneath. After the last facelift it got a rubber strip with 2 chrome strips and Daf 33 inscription. A different camshaft increased the power to 32 hp. The top speed rises to 112 km/h.
In terms of safety, the 33 benefited from new features: seat belt anchorages, and the front seats were equipped with a locking device that prevented them from folding forward in the event of a collision.
The first type Daf 33 was available in the trim levels Standard (now with windscreen washer and stainless steel bumpers, but a completely mouse gray interior and the red rear lights of a Daf 750) and Luxury (with double clocks in the dashboard and the 'LE ventilation' of predecessor Daffodil 32 LE).
From the 2nd type Daf 33, the Standard version was renamed Comfort, with enlarged rear lights (with the exception of the 33 Pick-up).
In September 1972, the outdated 6-volt system was replaced by a 12-volt installation, the almost only technical adjustment compared to its predecessor Daffodil (Daf 32).
