Apart from some external changes, the 1st type Daf 33 was the same model as the Daffodil, whose name disappeared due to the new double-digit model range (33/44/55/66). The dashboard remained the same, but the combination of two colors in the paint was done away with on the 33.

The 1st type Daf 33 (1967 to 1969) can be recognized by the extra chrome strip in the grille and the upright emblem '33' together with the writing letters 'daf' on the hood. The second type (1969 to 1974) has a plastic strip as a grille with two stripes and silver print "DAF 33", which you also see at the back.

Technically, the electrical installation of the 33 was changed from 6 volts to 12 volts, but otherwise no major changes were made. The Daf 33 is the last model based on the A-body. When the production of the 33 Sedan, Van and Combi ended in January 1974, the 'one and only DAFje' came to an end, according to many.

Version:    Standard / Comfort / de Luxe
Years of construction:    1967 - 1974
Produced:    106.534 (19.010 Standard and 87.524 de Luxe)

Externally, the 5 chrome strips of the Daffodil 32 made way for a 33 logo with 1 chrome strip with a chrome strip on the thickened part underneath. After the last facelift it got a rubber strip with 2 chrome strips and Daf 33 inscription. A different camshaft increased the power to 32 hp. The top speed rises to 112 km/h.

In terms of safety, the 33 benefited from new features: seat belt anchorages, and the front seats were equipped with a locking device that prevented them from folding forward in the event of a collision.

The first type Daf 33 was available in the trim levels Standard (now with windscreen washer and stainless steel bumpers, but a completely mouse gray interior and the red rear lights of a Daf 750) and Luxury (with double clocks in the dashboard and the 'LE ventilation' of predecessor Daffodil 32 LE). From the 2nd type Daf 33, the Standard version was renamed Comfort, with enlarged rear lights (with the exception of the 33 Pick-up).

In September 1972, the outdated 6-volt system was replaced by a 12-volt installation, the almost only technical adjustment compared to its predecessor Daffodil (Daf 32).

Externally, the Combi differs from the Sedan due to the different body structure after the front seats. This superstructure has room for a spacious rear seat and plenty of storage space. The storage space can be reached through a large door. With the rear seats folded down, a luggage space of almost 1 m3 is created: nothing needs to be left at home on holiday. The equipment is the same as the Standard (1st type)/Comfort (2nd type) of the 33 Sedan.
